WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A DESIGN AND FOOD TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION SESSION

• Discover the origins of our chocolate and how cocoa beans are processed prior to arrival in the UK.  Introduce our connection to Fairtrade and Cocoa Life and explain why both are vital to the survival of chocolate production.
• Discuss the purposes of Cadbury/Mondelez International sites in the UK, focusing on manufacturing, quality assurance and research.
• Explore the stages of new product development looking at how technology plays an important role in the creation of new products.
• Examine how we identify how best to market our products and explain how we use market research to create new products and/or to improve upon those products already well established.  Elaborate on how we must consider consumer health within government legislations when creating new products.
• Understand the process of sensory evaluation and how it affects both new product development as well as ensuring the consistency of our established product lines.
• Compare the methods of manufacturing and how they are utilised for different products.
• Identify the purpose of packaging and explore why we include such a variety of information on our products.  Elaborate on the technology involved in developing packaging that is both recyclable and sustainable yet durable to ensure the integrity of our products.
• Establish the importance of quality assurance, the variety of detection methods implemented and why we undertake such checks to protect our products and our consumers.
